Cd Drive wont detect Eye of the North or Nightfall Cd
Any ideas why my cd drive will not detect the nightfall cd or eye of the north, but the original guild wars and factions installed just fine. i dont really want to sit around for days while it downloads every new area i walk into... any ideas?

Do the following before you go away for a while next time: the -image command
*EDIT*
Forgot to say what it does: it downloads all the game files so you won't have to download them when you zone. When it's done downloading, it will shut itself down. When it's done, remove the -image command again and start it normally.
Windows XP:
1. Right click on your Guild Wars shortcut and select 'Properties'.
2. In the 'Target Area' field you will see the location of your Guild Wars executable file: "..\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
3. Write the command line arguments after the quote marks, each separated by a space:
"..\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

If I remember correctly, Nightfall and EotN both come on DVDs, not CDs. Which is why a CD drive would have issues loading.
If you don't have a DVD drive you can still grab the files without having to wait each time you walk into a new zone. The command line known as "-image" will download the files for you. (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Comma...guments#-image) scroll up to the top of that page if you don't know about command line arguments. That'll teach you how to use em
A full download from scratch takes a couple of hours. As you already have half the content already, it shouldn't take too long. Just let it run and go do something else for an hour or two!

There is no serious copy protection involved so its probably just some dirt or scratches on the disk.
Installing from the latest disk will save some time so if you can clean the disk a little and get it working its probably worth it.
read up on disk cleaning first if you haven't tried it before.
using the -image command and making a backup copy of the game files is the way to avoid future problems.
Would seriously advise all players of this game to just copy the game folder somewhere, be it another place on the hard disk or another drive dvd pen drive anywhere just make a copy.
The latest game disk is from last year and there have been a few updates since then any copy you make will be a great improvement.
That reminds me time I backed mine up again.

For the record -
All Gw install discs be them prophs or eotn only have an identical client.
The other compaigns and eotn is unlocked via serial keys - thus if you possess 1 campaign you dont actually need to install the others - and yes i have only ever installed nightfall and the rest have been unlocked via keys.( check the way you download the gw client then add keys from ncsoft as its 1 client )
Id recomend do the following - read the post a few above on using -image as that command helps greatly in both fixing some gw.dat errors as well as loading in some maps/updates that you dont have yet.

USB portable flash with 5+gbs of storage, find the folder where you installed the client, and copy the .dat file.
